NBC Orders Faith Drama From Mark Burnett & Roma Downey, Plus Medical Soap
NBC has ordered two more drama pilots, bringing its total to eight dramas for the 2015-16 season.
“Unveiled” comes from power producing couple Mark Burnett and Roma Downey. The one-hour drama follows an ensemble of “flawed guardian angels” who attempt to restore faith and save the lives of those who find themselves facing crises. Burnett and Downey serve as exec producers, alongside John Sakmar (“Boston Public”) and Kerry Lenhart (“The Glades,” “Psych,” “Boston Public”), who will also pen the pilot. Universal Television and Lightworks Media will produce.
Burnett and Downey are also at the helm of NBC’s upcoming 12-hour miniseries “A.D. The Bible Continues,” which premieres on Easter Sunday.
The net also ordered medical soap “Heart Matters” from “Private Practice” star Amy Brenneman, who will exec produce with Brad Silberling and Jill Gordon (“My So-Called Life,” “The Wonder Years”). The series follows a talented female heart transplant surgeon who balances her work with the complications of her romantic and personal life. Susan Carlson, Eric Carlson, Kelly Meyer and Kathy Magliato will serve as co-exec producers, and Gordon will write the pilot. Project hails from Universal Television.
The peacock previously announced pilot pickups for “Endgame” from “The Blacklist” producers and “Blindspot” from Greg Berlanti on Friday. “Game of Silence,” “Warrior,” “Love Is a Four Letter Word” and “Curse of Fuentes Woman” have also been handed pilot orders.
