Netflix Sets Will Arnett Comedy ‘Flaked’ for 2016
Netflix has ordered “Flaked,” a comedy series starring Will Arnett to premiere worldwide in 2016.
The eight-episode comedy, set in the insular world of Venice, Calif., centers on a self-appointed guru who falls for the object of his best friend’s fascination. Arnett plays Chip, a man doing his “honest best to stay one step ahead of his own lies,” per producers.
Executive producers Will Arnett and Mark Chappell (“The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret”) co-created and co-wrote the series. Also serving as exec producers are Ben Silverman, founder and chairman of Electus Entertainment; and Peter Principato and Mitch Hurwitz (creator, writer and producer of “Arrested Development,” with whom Netflix inked a multiyear development pact last year). Electus and Principato-Young Entertainment are providing production services.
Arnett also stars in Netflix’s original animated series “BoJack Horseman,” as well as “Arrested Development,” which the streaming service brought back for a fourth season in 2013. The thesp also starred in 2014 movies “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and “The Lego Movie.”
“We’re very excited to partner with Netflix — the home of original, original content — and the network I knew would be the ideal home for this passion project,” Arnett said in a statement.
Added Cindy Holland, VP of original content at Netflix, “We are thrilled to be the home of Will Arnett’s next series, and look forward to Chip joining his repertoire alongside such diverse and inspirational characters such as Gob, Bojack, and Batman.”
“Netflix is driving the golden age of television with its content, and we are proud to be part of their family with ‘Flaked.’ Will Arnett, Mitch Hurwitz, Mark Chappell and Peter Principato are brilliant collaborators and friends,” Ben Silverman said in a statement.
Arnett is repped by WME and Principato-Young.
