No sooner than it’s been announced that ECCC has been picked up by the owners of C2E2 and NYCC (and subsequently running out of letter C’s) then the news comes down the pipeline that Wizard World, running more shows in more states than any other, has bought the long standing Pittsburgh Comic Con and added it to their portfolio… What’s the next comic con on someone’s shopping spree to be picked up off the shelf? The next Pittsburgh Comicon is at the David Lawrence Convention Center, from September 11th to the 13th. Currently watching the London gala screening of Big Hero 6, finally arriving in the UK on January 30th. I’ll see what more I can discover when I emerge…

icv2.com/articles/news/view/30669/wizard-world-acquires-pittsburgh-comic-conWIZARD WORLD ACQUIRES PITTSBURGH COMIC CON One of 25 Wizard World Shows Slated for 2015 The Wizard World Website now includes the latest addition to the Wizard World show lineup, the Wizard World Comic Con Pittsburgh, which will be held from September 11-13 at the David Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh. Wizard World apparently acquired the Pittsburgh show from co-founder Renee George, who founded the Pittsburg Comic Con in 1994 with her husband Michael George. The exact nature of the deal between Wizard World and the Pittsburgh Comic Con is not known at this time, but it is clear that the Pittsburgh show has now joined the burgeoning Wizard World lineup. Michael George, who operated the Comic World comic shop along with his second wife Renee, is currently serving a life sentence in Michigan for the murder of his first wife Barbara George in 1990
