The fourth annual Comic Book, Sports Card & Toy Show is coming this weekend to the Biggs Park Mall in Robeson County, North Carolina. Attendance has been growing, says organizer Michael Chaudhuri, and the show will feature dealers from three states as well as video game artist Christian Tyner.

The fourth annual Comic Book, Sports Card & Toy Show will be held during regular mall hours on Saturday and Sunday.
“We are very excited to announce that this is the biggest show ever at the mall,” said Michael Chaudhuri, organizer of the event. “We expect dealers from three states with high quality collectibles, ranging from the 1940s to the present and ranging in price from $1 up to thousands of dollars.”
Chaudhuri, now 54, has been reading comics since the age of 7. He used his massive collections to help pay for both graduate school and law school.
The idea for the biannual event came to Chaudruri after he noticed the dearth of places in Robeson County for comic book enthusiasts to gather or purchase comics — or for that matter, other popular collectibles such as action figures, cards, coins and military memorabilia.
Chaudhuri said that interest in the show has grown during each installment, an uptick he attributes to the success of blockbuster superhero movies like “The Avengers” and “Guardians of the Galaxy.” An earlier event was held at the mall in May.
“Shows like the one at Biggs Park Mall are a great way for fans to meet fellow travelers and talk about the latest trends in popular culture,” he said.
As usual, free appraisals of comic books and other items will be offered in the mall’s center court, and Chaudhuri said that collectors are urged to scour their basements and attics for potential jackpots.
Video game artist and St. Pauls native Christian Tyner will be displaying his art and chatting with fans during the event. Members of the Lafayette Doll & Toy Club will also be on hand to showcase an assortment of vintage dolls, with a few trolls thrown into the mix.
In addition to the myriad bins of comic books, the year’s show will feature an array of Lego toys for collectors to peruse.
Admission to the event is free. The show will run from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 21. Biggs Park Mall is located at 2800 Elm St. in Lumberton. For information, email EMCEE Conventions at mchaud1@gmail.com or call 910-316-7251.
