As if Shout! Factory wasn’t busy enough cranking out the great Blu-rays and DVDs of classic horror features on its Scream Factory label, now the company is getting deeper into the short-film scene, and has announced an on-line Mini Movie Massacre contest.
Having just released the senses-based compilation CHILLING VISIONS, Shout! has opened up its Scream Factory YouTube channel to short-form moviemakers and made a call for entries. U.S./Canada residents can submit films (which may originate from anywhere in the world) up to 10 minutes in length with no entry fee between now and Sunday, November 17. Submissions will be reviewed by the staff to ensure they meet Shout!’s standards and guidelines (among other things, no pornography/explicit sexual content or hate speech), and those approved will be uploaded simultaneously on Wednesday, November 20 to YouTube, where viewers will be able to “vote” for their favorites by liking them. In addition to an Audience Award, there will also be a Judges Pick Award, and the winners of each (to be announced December 2) will receive a $250 Scream Factory catalog shopping spree.
