SPWA bought UK, Australia/New Zealand, South Africa, Latin America, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe on the remake of French comedy, Envoyés très spéciaux. It’s slated to start production in New York and Vancouver in the spring. Bana plays a struggling New York-based radio journalist whose arrogance and decadent lifestyle has hindered his career. With his job on the line, he and his technician (Gervais) fake frontline war reports from the comfort of their hideout above a Spanish restaurant in the heart of Manhattan. As their false reports of the conflict escalate, so does the world’s response to their situation, forcing them to sneak into Ecuador and find the rebels they’ve been covering. WME Global is selling domestic.
