The agreement was announced Thursday by Tom Ortenberg, CEO of Open Road Films, and Glen Basner, CEO of FilmNation. Open Road touted the deal as making it a “one-stop shop” for filmmakers seeking worldwide distribution and said it will be able to provide equity and bank financing for productions. It will also continue to acquire films for distribution in the United States. “As Open Road Films grows, expanding our domestic footprint to international sales was a natural progression,” Ortenberg said.
