variety.com/2014/digital/news/netflix-pacts-with-showtime-and-cbs-studios-intl-to-feed-new-european-markets-1201328386/CANNES– Rolling off its launch across six European markets and the Netherlands, Netflix has inked a multi-territory licensing deal with CBS Studios International and Showtime. Deal, which covers the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Luxembourg, will provide Netflix with exclusive first-window rights to the Showtime skein “Penny Dreadful” in those markets. As part of the deal, CBS Studios International has also licensed to Netflix early seasons of current series “Elementary,” “Under The Dome” and “Ray Donovan,” as well as popular library shows such as “Dexter,” “Deadwood” and “Jericho.” “We’re excited to have CBS’s world-class programming and Showtime’s acclaimed original series be part of Netflix’s launch in these territories,” said Armando Nunez, prexy and CEO of CBS Global Distribution Group. Netflix has also commissioned its first French-language show, “Marseille,” from Pascal Breton’s Federation Entertainment right before its launch on Sept. 15 and has just signed a major deal with Gaul’s top telco company Orange for set-top box distribution.
