Voltage Pictures and Depth of Field are producing “Good Kids” which also stars Nicholas Braun (“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”), Zoey Deutch (“Vampire Academy”), and Israel Broussard (“Bling Ring”). Chris McCoy is making his directorial debut as he helms from his own script, which was featured on the 2011 Black List. “Good Kids” was part of Voltage’s slate at Cannes. WME Global is repping domestic rights and Voltage is handling international sales. The story follows four overachieving high school students who realize that they’ve missed out on key life experiences by always being the good kids and decide to reinvent themselves before heading off to college. Depth of Field’s Chris Weitz, Paul Weitz and Andrew Miano are producing with Voltage Pictures’ Dominic Rustam. Justin Bursch is executive producing. Judd, who stars in “Dolphin Tale 2,” will play a tennis-playing wife. Bichir portrays a tennis coach. Dayo Okeniyi (“Terminator Genisys”), Julia Garner and Ginny Gardner have also joined the cast.

Voltage is producing alongside Depth of Field. The film wrapped shooting in Massachusetts on Thursday. Compadre, headed by Gerard Barba and Emmanuel Paintendre, is aiming to co-finance and produce up to five movies a year with a focus on commercial material. Voltage topper Nic Chartier said, “We’re excited to help launch this venture with Gerard and Emmanuel. It’s great to find like-minded people who share our passion for great stories and that’s what this business really needs.” Barba said, “We’ve been talking to Voltage for some time now and can’t think of a better partner or project on which to launch this exciting new venture.” Voltage’s producing credits include “The Hurt Locker” and “Dallas Buyers Club.” Voltage’s Dominic Rustam brokered the deal on behalf of the company. Glenn D. Feig negotiated on behalf of Compadre. “Good Kids” also stars Ashley Judd, Demian Bichir and Israel Broussard (“Bling Ring”).
