variety.com/2014/film/news/robert-downey-jr-calls-guardians-of-the-galaxy-the-best-marvel-movie-yet-1201293070/In an interview with the Toronto Sun, Robert Downey Jr., the star of Marvel’s “Iron Man” series as well as “The Avengers,” said he thought that this summer’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is the best Marvel film to date. “Galaxy in some ways is the best Marvel movie ever,” Downey Jr. told the newspaper. “And it’s odd for someone with — on occasion — an ego the size of mine to actually say that!” Downey Jr., whose upcoming film “The Judge” will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Sept. 4, said he was impressed that Marvel was able to take a group of less well known characters from their comic books and turn them into a successful film. “It’s like you have a great quarterback, and his brother plays for another team, and then you say: ‘Look, this is their second cousin and we think he has a great arm and he should start.’ And then he goes and wins the Superbowl!” Downey Jr. said. While he will appear in the next installment of “The Avengers,” Downey Jr. has other big projects on his slate as well, including the third film in the “Sherlock Holmes” series, which he said he is currently working on. Marvel’s “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” is currently filming and hits theaters May 1, 2015.
