Gerard Butler has returned for the sequel, which does not have a director. The story will take place in London with an attack on the city during the funeral of the British prime minister, who has died under mysterious circumstances. Butler will reprise his role as a U.S. Secret Service agent. The script for the sequel is written by Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt and Christian Gudegast. The film is being produced by Butler, Alan Siegel, Mark Gill, and Matt O’Toole. “Olympus Has Fallen” was released last year in March by FilmDistrict, the U.S. distributor led by Peter Schlessel prior to him being named CEO of Focus Features. The film grossed $98.9 million at the domestic box office.

The trio is suddenly caught in the middle of plot to kill all the world leaders who are in attendance at the funeral. Butler is producing with Alan Siegel, Mark Gill and Matt O’Toole. Bond most recently helmed the Shia LaBeouf movie “Charlie Countryman.” He is repped by CAA and Management 360. The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.
