www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/amazon-uk-takes-beware-batman-696705LONDON – Amazon.com has acquired exclusive first-run U.K. rights to animated series Beware the Batman. The show is now available on its Prime Instant Video service. The streaming service will the only platform in Britain where people can view the CGI show. The deal marks the first time the company has offered a series aimed at a young adult audience on Prime Instant Video before it airs on traditional TV. Financial details of the deal with Time Warner's Warner Bros. International Television Distribution weren't disclosed. Amazon said the agreement "highlights the service’s dedication to providing quality exclusive content to kids and young adult viewers." Beware the Batman launched in the U.S. on Cartoon Network in the summer of 2013 and features Batman's core cast of characters and new villains not previously seen in animated form. It sees Bruce Wayne join forces with sword-mistress Katana, his butler Alfred and police lieutenant James Gordon to take on Gotham City’s criminal underworld. Anthony Ruivivar (Law & Order, Revolution) voices Batman. "This milestone deal signals an exciting time in the growth of our exclusive content offering," said Tim Leslie, vp of Amazon Instant Video EU. “We’re passionate about investing in the very best shows for our customers of all ages, and this is a great new series for a range of generations to immerse themselves in." Said Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, president, Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution: "Allowing the Caped Crusaders fans to enjoy all episodes on-demand means new audiences can experience the action-packed world of Beware the Batman whenever they want, however they want.”
