From Oscar-winning director Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom), the pic is slated for release on June 8. Rogers, whose career spanned five decades, was most known for creating and hosting the children’s educational afterschool program, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, which ran from 1968 to 2001. The documentary is said to go beyond zip-up cardigans and the land of make-believe, and into the heart of a creative genius, who inspired generations of children with compassion and limitless imagination. Neville, Caryn Capotosto and Nicholas Ma produced the project with Tremolo Productions in association with Impact Partners and Independent Lens / PBS. The deal was negotiated by Endeavor Content and Judith Karfiol on behalf of the filmmakers.
