'Atlanta' to Stream Exclusively on Hulu
Donald Glover's FX comedy will be available to stream in 2018.
Hulu is bulking up its library of hit shows.
The streaming service has acquired the exclusive streaming rights to Donald Glover’s breakout comedy Atlanta.
The complete first season of the FX series, which stars Glover and Brian Tyree Henry as cousins who work through the Atlanta music scene, will be available to watch on Hulu ahead of its second-season premiere in 2018. Subsequent seasons will also hit the streamer after they first air on the basic cable network.
Following a critically acclaimed run last year, Atlanta went on to win two Golden Globes — one for best TV comedy series and another for best comedy actor — and recently scored a Peabody Award. The half-hour series from FX Productions was created by Glover, who serves as executive producer with Paul Simms and Dianne McGunigle.
The network delayed the show's season-two return to accommodate Glover's busy production schedule that includes playing Lando in the upcoming Star Wars Han Solo stand-alone film directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
The series comes to Hulu via a multiyear output deal with 20th Century Fox Television Distribution that was announced in 2014. The landmark agreement granted the streamer the exclusive subscription video on-demand rights to FX Networks’ original series produced by FX Productions, including You’re the Worst and Baskets.
