Nick Styne Leaving CAA To Form Management/Production Venture
After more than 25 years as a talent agent, Nick Styne is leaving CAA today to start a new career chapter. Styne is forming a management/production startup that he has yet to name. He is putting the pieces together on the new company, and it isn’t yet clear which of his clients will go with him.
Styne is known for core clients like Cameron Diaz, Luke Wilson and Jennifer Jason Leigh, and for a knack for spotting, signing and developing young talent that over the years has included Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and The Jonas Brothers. Aside from Diaz, Wilson and Leigh, clients he has worked with at CAA include Lily Collins, Nat Wolff, Alex Wolff, Liana Liberato, Halston Sage, Isabella Moner, Transformer 5‘s Laura Haddock, Vanessa Hudgens, Mad Men‘s Kiernan Shipka, Luke Bracey, Asa Butterfield, Bella Thorne, Ariana Grande and Star Wars‘ Billie Lourd. He placed his core clients with managers, so that will take a while to shake itself out. His new venture will continue a niche of finding, signing and building young talent as a manager.
Styne is the son of songwriting legend Jule Styne, the composer of the Broadway musicals Gypsy, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Funny Girl. Styne started his deal-making career as Kim Basinger’s assistant, became an assistant at APA and got his agent stripes at Writers & Artists. He soon moved to ICM and stayed a decade before moving to CAA nearly 15 years ago. His exit today is an amicable one.
