FilmRise on Tuesday announced that it has raised an additional $27 million, meaning that the distributor has raised roughly $50 million in the past year. Led by Harlan Capital Partners, the multimillion-dollar investment will be going towards the Brooklyn-based distributor's acquisition of film and TV titles. FilmRise recently released the festival standout White Girl and the true-crime documentary The Witness. The company's other titles include the Oscar-nominated Janis: Little Girl Blue and the Emmy-winning Scientology doc Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief. FilmRise recently acquired Mike Nichols: American Masters, made by Nichols' longtime comedy partner Elaine May, and the ballet doc Reset. Since 2015, Harlan Capital has been the lead source of financing for FilmRise.
