After postponing the July 2014 release of Fast & Furious 7 following the tragic death of cast member Paul Walker, Universal has pushed the sequel’s release by nearly a year to April 10, 2015.
Vin Diesel first announced the release update on his official Facebook account Sunday evening along with a new photo of himself and Walker in character . “The last scene we filmed together,” he wrote. “There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing… the magic captured… and, in just how far we’ve come… Fast and Furious 7 will be released… April 10th 2015! P.s. He’d want you to know first…”

From: www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/paul-walker-fast-furious-7-683883This story first appeared in the March 7 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine. After a long hiatus due to the death of star Paul Walker, Fast & Furious 7 is gearing up to resume shooting. Sources say Universal will restart production on the action franchise on or near April 1, giving the studio and director James Wan almost one year until the film is due to hit theaters April 10, 2015. The remainder of the shoot will last from six to eight weeks, according to insiders. Cast and crew will be called back to Atlanta, where filming had been scheduled to resume after Thanksgiving. Fast 7 was about halfway finished when Walker was killed in a car crash in Valencia, Calif., requiring its release date to be scrapped and Wan, writer Chris Morgan and Universal to pore over existing footage and tweak the script. Insiders now believe Walker's character can be "retired" -- rather than killed off -- in a way that will allow the franchise to continue. Universal declined comment.

From: variety.com/2014/film/news/fast-and-furious-7-to-resume-shooting-in-abu-dhabi-in-april-1201131230/“Fast and Furious 7″ will resume shooting in Abu Dhabi in April after halting production in December last year following the death of Paul Walker. The Abu Dhabi Film Commission and Universal Pictures in a statement have announced that director James Wan and actor/producer Vin Diesel, as well as stars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, will join the crew in Abu Dhabi to continue production. Abu Dhabi production hub twofour54 will serve as the UAE producer of the film which will use a local crew, at least in part, and benefit from Abu Dhabi’s 30 percent rebate on qualifying local spend as a production incentive. Shooting on the seventh installment of the highly lucrative action-thriller franchise was underway in Abu Dhabi in November 2013, but was halted after Walker, 40, who plays Brian O’Conner in the pic, died Nov. 30 in the crash of a Porsche GT in Santa Clarita, Calif. along with the car’s driver, Roger Rodas. The death of Walker left Universal in a dilemma about what to do with the newest “Fast” installment, which had originally been planned for release on July 11 2014. The script has now been radically rewritten, though it has not been revealed whether Walker’s character will be “retired” or killed off, or how this highly sensitive matter will be handled. The film is now scheduled for release on April 10 2015.

Universal Pictures announced today that the racing movie, most recently set for release on April 10, 2015, will now open on April 3, 2015. The studio is planning a worldwide day-and-date opening for the movie and decided that opening a week earlier allowed it to book more international playdates. The latest installment in the series stars Vin Diesel, the late Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson, along with returning actors Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black and a new array of action stars that includes Jason Statham, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, Ronda Rousey and Kurt Russell. James Wan is directing the script by Chris Morgan, and Neal H. Moritz, Diesel and Michael Fottrell are producing. The film, which began principal photography in September 2013, was originally designed as a summer 2014 release. It was put on hold following the fatal car crash that claimed Walker's life on November 30, 2013. Resuming production this past April, it was then slotted into the April 10, 2015 date.
