No director is attached yet. The script is being written by Matt Rager, who has teamed on several Franco-directed movies including “As I Lay Dying,” ” The Sound and the Fury” and “In Dubious Battle.” Franco and his Rabbit Bandini partner Vince Jolivette will produce with Doug McKay, Robert Kaplan, Marc Senter and Nathan Grubbs of Rubicon Entertainment. “Drunken Fireworks” is set in a small town in Maine and centers on a mechanic — to be played by Franco — and a retired mob boss who compete in the town’s annual Fourth of July fireworks competition. Rabbit Bandini is in production on “Future World,” directed by Franco and starring Milla Jovovich, Lucy Liu, Snoop Dogg and Franco. He also stars in the upcoming Fox comedy “’Why Him” with Bryan Cranston. “Drubken Fireworks” is the first major project for Rubicon, formed last year. Franco and Rabbit Bandini are repped by CAA; Rager is repped by APA, Thruline and Jackaway Tyerman Wertheimer. King is repped by Paradigm. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
