variety.com/2016/tv/news/looking-the-movie-premiere-date-hbo-1201776953/HBO has set the premiere date for “Looking: The Movie,” with the feature-length presentation scheduled to debut Saturday, July 23 at 10 p.m. on the premium cable network. Serving as a wrap-up to the shortlived but critically-acclaimed series starring Jonathan Groff, Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett, “Looking: The Movie” sees Patrick (Groff) return to San Francisco for the first time in almost a year to celebrate a momentous event with his old friends. In the process, he must face the unresolved relationships he left behind and make difficult choices about what’s important to him. “Looking: The Movie” is written by Andrew Haigh and Michael Lannan, directed by Haigh; and executive produced by Haigh, Lannan and Sarah Condon. The series, created by Lannan, was based on the writer’s 2011 short film “Lorimer.” It premiered in January 2014 and ran for two seasons, totaling 18 episodes. “After two years of following Patrick and his tight-knit group of friends as they explored San Francisco in search of love and lasting relationships, HBO will present the final chapter of their journey as a special,” HBO said in a statement at the time of the show’s cancellation. “We look forward to sharing this adventure with the show’s loyal fans.”
