variety.com/2016/film/asia/iqiyi-backs-the-brink-1201729188/ FilMart: Streaming Giant iQIYI Backs ‘The Brink’ China’s streaming giant iQIYI and YL Pictures have come on board “The Brink,” a Hong Kong-China cop thriller that starts shooting next month. The film also sees the involvement of Hong Kong-based Sun Entertainment Culture and is co-produced with the Sil-Metropole Organization. Hong Kong’s Bravos Pictures is representing all rights outside mainland China. The story revolves around a group of fishermen smuggling gold and the cops who chase them. “The Brink” will be shot mostly in mainland China. A significant proportion of the US$15.5 million (HK$100 million) budget will go toward underwater fighting scenes and related special effects. The cast includes Zhang Jin, Gordan Lam Ka-tung and Janice Man. Produced by Soi Cheang and Paco Wong with first-time director Jonathan Li, the film is scheduled for release in late 2016 or 2017.
