The pic, which world premiered in May in the Cannes Film Festival’s Directors’ Fortnight section, just picked up four Cesar Award nominations including for Best Film and Best Actress for Soria Zeroual. The movie will have its U.S. premiere at the upcoming Rendez-Vous with French Cinema film festival in New York and will get a national theatrical release after that, followed by VOD by year’s end. It also will screen at COLCOA in L.A. It follows middle-aged single mother Fatima (Zeroual), who immigrated to France knowing very little of the language and lives with her two teenage daughters. She works cleaning jobs to pay their way through school. She’s pressured by her children and neighbors to assimilate into the culture she doesn’t trust yet. The deal was negotiated between Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber and Pyramide Films’ Agathe Valentin.
