deadline.com/2015/06/chinas-bona-26-picture-slate-huaxia-shanghai-ang-lee-1201442841/China’s Bona Unveils 26 Picture Slate And Strategic Tie-Up With Huaxia Bona Film Group, China’s largest private film company, has unveiled a 26 picture slate at the Shanghai Film Festival to celebrate the company’s 15th anniversary as well as a co-operation pact with state-backed Huaxia Film Distribution to co-produce 3-5 films and distribute 5-8 films a year. The new slate includes the previously announced Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk from Ang Lee, a co-production with Studio 8 and TriStar. The Chinese language projects include martial arts fantasy Wulin Guaishou produced by Derek Yee and directed by Andrew Lau; Unparalleled, directed by Alan Mak and Felix Chong and Derek Yee’s wuxia title Swordmaster, produced by Tsui Hark. Andrew Lau’s Chasing The Dragon;Ning Ying’s Red Spy and new projects from Dante Lam, Gordan Chan and Benny Chan are also on the slate. Wong Jing’s From Vegas To Macau 3 and Ronald Cheng and Gordon Chan’s The Treasure also feature along with a stage adaptation of best-selling internet novel Ghost Blows Out The Lamp. Acclaimed theatre director Guan Haoyue is set to direct. The announcement of the slate comes days after Bona revealed it had a non-binding offer from Bona founder, chairman and chief exec Yu Dong, Sequoia Capital China I LP and Fosun International Limited to go private. Bona first floated on the Nasdaq exchange back in December 2010. In July last year, Fox sold its 19.3% stake in the company back to Bona. Fosun, which ultimately acquired Fox’s stake, also made a significant investment in Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8.
