The Argentinian filmmaker has closed a deal with MRC to to write and direct The Stranger, a sci-fi limited series, which has been a passion project for him. Szifrón, who started his writing career in Argentinean television, is set to write and direct all 10 episodes of The Stranger, which is described as taking place on a global scale, with locations around the world, and involving different languages. As it usually does, MRC will develop the project internally before taking it out to potential buyers in the cable and digital subscription space. Szifrón is writing the scripts, and he and the producers plan to attach talent before the drama is shopped. In addition to penning what has been renamed The Six Billion Dollar Man for The Weinstein Co., Szifrón, repped by WME his attorney is Carlos Goodman, also recently signed on to write and direct a thriller at TriStar.
