Financial details weren’t immediately clear. Alchemy declined to comment. The deal would make Alchemy the industry’s largest entertainment distributor outside of the major studios and Lionsgate. It would also make it the largest nonmajor studio supplier to Walmart and the exclusive aggregator of nonmajor studio titles to Best Buy and Sam's Club. Alchemy also distributes two-thirds of all independent titles sold through Target and is a leading supplier to digital platforms, including iTunes and Netflix. The Alchemy library currently consists of 800 titles. The Anderson transaction would push that number to more than 1,000. Alchemy distributes works from such filmmakers as Richard Linklater, Werner Herzog, Lee Daniels and James Cameron. Its recent successes include Welcome to Me, Elsa & Fred, What Maisie Knew and Bernie.
