variety.com/2015/film/news/jeff-daniels-divergent-movies-1201483276/Jeff Daniels is in final negotiations to join the last movies in Lionsgate’s “Divergent” franchise. The actor would appear in “Allegiant Part 1″ and “Allegiant Part 2″ in the role of the leader of the Bureau of Genetic Welfare. Robert Schwentke, who directed “Insurgent,” will begin shooting “Part 1″ in May. Producers are Doug Wick, Lucy Fisher and Pouya Shahbazian. The four-film franchise is based on the Veronica Roth trilogy about the warfare among five factions in a post-apocalyptic society that emerges from the ruins of Chicago. The two films that have already been released have grossed over $550 million worldwide. “Allegiant Part 1″ will be released on March 18, and “Allegiant Part 2″ will open a year later. Daniels will next be seen portraying former Apple CEO John Sculley in Universal’s Steve Jobs biopic, which has an Oct. 9 launch. He also appears in Ridley Scott’s space drama “The Martian,” which Fox opens Nov. 25. Daniels is repped by ICM Partners and Martino Management.
