variety.com/2015/film/news/robert-wittman-art-crime-project-priceless-1201480604/Robert Wittman’s Art Crime Project ‘Priceless’ in the Works at Cross Creek Cross Creek Pictures has optioned the movie rights to Robert Wittman’s 2010 memoir “Priceless: How I Went Undercover to Rescue the World’s Stolen Treasures.” Wittman joined the FBI in 1988 and gained a reputation within the bureau for solving art theft cases, helping to locate paintings by Norman Rockwell, Pablo Picasso, Rembrandt, Camille Pissarro and Claude Monet. He helped form the FBI’s Art Crime Team in 2005, the first of its type. The memoir includes recoveries of the golden armor of an ancient Peruvian warrior king, the Rodin sculpture that inspired the Impressionist movement, the war bonnet that Geronimo wore at his final pow-wow, the original copy of the Bill of Rights and the Civil War flag carried into battle by one of the nation’s first African-American regiments. Cross Creek is in post-production on Leonardo DiCaprio’s gangster drama “Black Mass,” Jake Gyllenhaal’s action-adventure “Everest,” British gangster drama “Legend” and “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.” The deal was brokered by Josie Freedman at ICM on behalf of Larry Weissman at Larry Weissman Literary. The news was first reported by Publishers Weekly.
