The studio will be adapt the book into a feature length film with Alloy Entertainment. Based on Michaela DePrince’s memoir, Taking Flight follows her life as an orphan in war-torn Sierra Leone as she overcomes great odds to become a world famous ballerina. She was one of four dancers featured in the Sundance Selects 2012 documentary First Position and she recently joined the Dutch National Ballet’s main dance company. “Michaela’s journey is truly inspirational and we’re confident the positive message it carries will have universal appeal for audiences of all ages,” said Les Morgenstein, President Alloy Entertainment in a statement. “We’re privileged to be able to bring her incredible story to the big screen.” Elysa Dutton and Morgenstein from Alloy Features will produce with Matt Dines overseeing from MGM. Michaela DePrince and Elaine DePrince are represented by ICM Partners and Full Circle.
