The film has just gone into production in the Alps and will move to the UK next month. Lionsgate is planning a spring 2016 release. The news comes just days after Fox boarded the film for the rest of the world and dated it domestically for April 29, 2016. Kingsman: The Secret Service writer-director-producer Matthew Vaughn is producing via his Marv Films. Kingsman‘s Taron Egerton will play Michael Edwards, better known as ‘Eddie the Eagle,’ the most famous ski jumper in British history whose catastrophic showing at the 1988 Calgary games captured the hearts of sports fans around the world. The film portrays Edwards’ never-say-die approach and celebrates the human spirit and resilience in the face of extraordinary odds and challenges. Hugh Jackman is also aboard as a ski jumping expert from Lake Placid who helps Eddie train for the Calgary Olympics.
