Roadside Attractions Sets North American Release for Down Syndrome Drama
Roadside Attractions will release the drama Where Hope Grows in North American theaters on May 15, 2015.
The drama from writer-director Chris Dowling centers on a former professional baseball player who was forced into early retirement. He drifts through life and struggles to raise his teenage daughter until he meets Produce, a man with Down syndrome who works at his local grocery store. Learning to see the world through Produce's eyes, he finds redemption in faith and love.
Kristoffer Polaha (Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt, Fox's Backstrom) stars opposite newcomer David DeSanctis as Produce. Billy Zabka (The Karate Kid, How I Met Your Mother) and McKaley Miller (Hart of Dixie) co-star.
Godspeed Pictures' Steve Bagheri and Simran Singh, Attic Light's Milan Chakraborty and actor Jose Pablo Cantillo (The Walking Dead, Elysium) produced. The film won the audience choice award at the Heartland Film Festival in 2014.
Roadside's other upcoming releases include the post-apocalyptic adaptation Z For Zachariah, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Margot Robbie, and Mr. Holmes, with Ian McKellen playing an elderly Sherlock. The distributor recently handled prestige titles, including Dear White People, Xavier Dolan's Mommy, the Hilary Swank-Tommy Lee Jones western The Homesman.
“We are thrilled to be releasing the award-winning Where Hope Grows to the North American movie-going audience. It is a film with an uplifting spirit and performances that will touch your heart," said Roadside co-president Howard Cohen in a statement.
The film currently shares the May 15 release date with Universal's Pitch Perfect sequel and Warner Bros.' Mad Max: Fury Road.
