deadline.com/2015/01/annapurna-virtual-reality-chris-milk-1201355994/Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures is forming a Virtual Reality division of the company, forming a joint venture with artist Chris Milk to develop VR content. The idea behind the unit, VRSE.farm, is to give filmmakers the tech, craftsmen and crew to explore and push the limits of VR and build a new language for storytelling. Ellison is no stranger to pushing boundaries, taking on financing for auteur pics like Spring Breakers and The Master and Best Picture Oscar nominees Zero Dark Thirty, American Hustle, Her and 2014’s Foxcatcher. Milk’s Evolution Of Verse will be the first piece to come out of the division when it premieres as part of the Sundance Film Festival’s New Frontier section. The pic is a photo-realistic, CGI-rendered, 3D virtual reality film. “Megan has the most vision and foresight of any producer working in cinema today,” said Milk. “I’m humbled and honored to be exploring the virtual reality medium alongside her. We can’t wait to help our fellow filmmakers write a completely new storytelling language.”
