Police in San Antonio, Texas, arrested two men on Friday on charges of stealing $5,000 worth of comics from a local collector. After the robbery, the collector contacted local comic shops and asked them to keep an eye out for the stolen goods. Several retailers gave police information, including a license plate number, that led to the arrests of Gino Saenz and Jose Gonzalez on charges of theft

Two accused of stealing comics worth $5,000
Two suspects accused of stealing a comic book collection worth thousands of dollars were arrested Friday evening.
Gino Saenz, 37, and Jose Gonzalez each face a charge of theft. They are accused of stealing $5,000 in comic books from a collector, SAPD spokeswoman Misty Floyd said.
Floyd said after the comic book collection was stolen, the owner called several shops in town and told them to be on the lookout.
The property crimes unit was able to work with several shops that the two visited as they attempted to sell the comics, Floyd said.
Shop owners reported to police the license plate of the vehicle the suspects drove, which had been reported as stolen.
Police caught the two after setting up a buy for the comic books.
"This was a collaborative effort of the community working together with police," Floyd said.
As he was being escorted Friday, Gonzalez told reporters police had the wrong person.
Saenz also faces a charge of theft of vehicle, in addition to the theft of property charge.
Police are still investigating the details surrounding the stolen vehicle, Floyd said, adding that it did not belong to the owner of the comic books.
