Liz Garbus, who was Oscar nommed for docu “The Farm: Angola, USA” and won a Primetime Emmy for another doc “Ghosts of Abu Ghraib,” is to helm romantic comedy “Taxonomy.”
The pic is based on Galt Niederhoffer’s novel “A Taxonomy of Barnacles,” which has been adapted by “Masters of Sex” scribe Amy Lippman.
Goldcrest Films, which financed the pic, is repping international rights and co-represents domestic rights.
The story follows Barry Barnacle, a self-made man with a survival of the fittest obsession, as he endures the adventures of his four daughters.
Niederhoffer and Amy Hobby are producing for Tangerine Films, with Goldcrest’s Nick Quested and Pascal Degove serving as exec producers. Production is expected to begin in spring 2015 in New York.
“Galt is a master when it comes to crafting entertainment properties that speak directly to her audience and ‘Taxonomy’ does that brilliantly,” Degove said.
