variety.com/2014/tv/news/tbs-broken-lizard-quality-time-1201275657/TBS is developing a comedy script with Broken Lizard, the team behind cult films like “Beerfest” and “SUPER TROOPERS,” the network confirms to VARIETY exclusively. The project, which is called “Quality Time” and is being developed and produced by Entertainment One Television, follows the now-adult (well, at least older) versions of the group as they struggle through various challenges of adult misery and child rearing and attempt to hang on to the idiotic freedom of their irresponsible pre-parental lives. BROKEN LIZARD’s Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske will serve as WRITERS on the show, as well as produce alongside Contend’s Steven Amato.

deadline.com/2014/12/quality-time-comedy-pilot-broken-lizard-tbs-1201326649/TBS Orders Fatherhood Comedy Pilot From Broken Lizard Quartet TBS has ordered Quality Time, a half-hour comedy pilot written, executive-produced by and starring Paul Soter, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme and Erik Stolhanske, members of the Broken Lizard comedy filmmaking group behind such movies as Super Troopers and Beerfest. This is the first pilot ordered since Kevin Reilly took the reigns of TNT and TBS, though the pickup deal for Quality Time had been well underway when he joined the network. TBS has been overhauling its original scripted slate, recently canceling Men at Work and Sullivan and Son after three seasons while ordering three pilots: Wrecked; a family vacation show from Daily Show with Jon Stewart correspondents Jason Jones and Samantha Bee; and Quality Time. The semi-autobiographical Quality Time is about four college buddies who kept their sophomoric ways in suspended animation throughout their 20s and are now succumbing to reproduction. It’s an untraditional fatherhood comedy about the constant push and pull between the dudes they used to be and the men they are attempting to be. Also executive producing the TBS-backed pilot are Entertainment One‘s Michael Rosenberg and John Morayniss as well as Steven Amato and Michael Wallen. The Broken Lizard troupe’s fifth member, Jay Chandrasekhar, recently did a comedy pilot for Amazon, Really.

deadline.com/2015/03/quality-time-not-going-forward-tbs-dead-1201397518/Comedy Pilot ‘Quality Time’ Not Going Forward At TBS TBS has passed on Quality Time, its comedy pilot from the Broken Lizard quartet of Paul Soter, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme and Erik Stolhanske. The semi-autobiographical project, written, executive produced by and starring the four, was about a group of college buddies (Soter, Heffernan, Lemme, Stolhanske) who kept their sophomoric ways in suspended animation throughout their 20s and now are succumbing to reproduction. It’s a nontraditional fatherhood comedy about the constant push and pull between the dudes they used to be and the men they are attempting to be. Gillian Vigman, Alexie Gilmore and Jessica Meraz co-starred. Also executive producing the TBS-produced pilot were Entertainment One‘s Michael Rosenberg and John Morayniss as well as Steven Amato and Michael Wallen. Quality Time marked the first pilot ordered after Kevin Reilly took the reins of TNT and TBS, though the pickup deal for the project had been well underway when he joined the networks. Of the three TBS pilots from the most recent batch, the network recently picked up Jason Jones/Samantha Bee’s road trip comedy to series. The fate of the third, Wrecked, is still TBD.
